HHCLA’s Plato de Oro award is presented to individuals who exemplify the true meaning of humanitarianism. These women and men who hold true to the ethics of kindness and benevolence and have been unwavering supporters of HHCLA’s work. More than Plato de Oro honorees, these individuals unselfishly contribute their time and financial support to eradicate intolerance and injustice towards people experiencing homelessness.

a day of beauty for our clients.

On April 10, 2016, Bolt BarbersTM in downtown Los Angeles hosted a Personal Day of Grooming for HHCLA.

“Downtown Los Angeles is Bolt Barbers’ home and we want to make a difference by supporting the community’s largest social dilemma.” Said Lynn Roberts, owner of Bolt BarbersTM.

25 men and women who are in process of transitioning out of homelessness and into an improved quality of life were treated to haircuts and styles, as well as a new wardrobe. The women also received makeup application.

Volunteers from beGlammed, an on-demand beauty service based out of DTLA, provided the services to the women, and Bolt Barbers staff provided haircuts and beard trims to the men.

After the grooming services were finished, clients chose outfits from racks of donated clothing. Their new wardrobe was personally styled by celebrity stylist Tara Swennen. Numerous businesses and organizations contributed hair and personal care products.
